I guess you can tell that my team is not playing this weekend because I am updating on a Saturday night :) . I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! I am loving this weather!! I wanted to make sure and remind you about our Pumpkin and PJ Party on Monday at 11:00am. Absolutely NO Costumes!!!!! If a child is brought to school in a costume, the child will be asked to leave and can only return if dressed in appropriate attire. Please make sure to wear tennis shoes! NO house shoes, crocks, sandals or any other open toed or backless shoe. These requirements are rules from the office. I have been instructed to send any child home that does not meet the dress code.
Since we have addressed our the expectations of the week, let's move on to all the fun stuff we did last week!!! On Monday we dotted our names with the dot markers. This is a great activity for name recognition and to help your child learn the correct way to form the letters in his/her name.
Also on Monday we had a very special snack time. We ate our favorite color snack. Thank you to everyone who brought a favorite color snack!
We had a very busy Monday! After our color snack we went back to our classroom and made color wheels. And your children got to use their markers. This is a big deal!! We do not get to use our markers often. So this was a special treat!
This was a "Listen and Do" activity. I began a large color wheel on the board. Then the children had to listen and color their color wheel. I was so very proud!!!
Last but not least we created a rainbow out of Fruit Loops. This activity teaches the order of colors in the rainbow and helps small motor skills. Each child had to use 2 finger to pick up their Fruit Loops and put on the glue on the rainbow. Again, I am so very proud of all the accomplishments of your children!!!
On Tuesday, we Watercolored! I think was one of the most fun activities we have done this year!!! Your children loved to watercolor and we will do this more often!
On Wednesday, we made Roy G. Biv's. This is an acronym for the colors of the rainbow. This was a "Listen and Do" activity. This activity was a little more challenging for the class. I think it might have been the amount of steps, and it was also the end of class. Nonetheless, this is still a very cute activity!
Not only did we finish our color unit, but we also learned all about the letter Hh! This week we gave a lot of HUGS!!! This letter was a much easier letter for each child to write. I am so very excited to see progress in each child. Please continue to practice at home. That is the only way to master this skill!
A very fun activity I like to do this time of the year is a spider hand print. I told you I love hand prints and this is one of my fav's!!
If our week was not packed.....we added Pumpkin Patch to the list. Below are pictures of our fun little pumpkin patch and your sweet little children's faces.
I look forward to seeing you on Monday! Have a wonderful Sunday!!

Me and My Bones
I do love this unit so much!! We talked all about our bones and how they help hold us up!! If we did not have our bones we could not walk around.
On Monday we put this skeleton together. We also put a large floor puzzle of a skeleton together. It took team work but we got the job done. In our dramatic play area we had a doctor kit.... and it was so sweet to see your little one's take care of each other!
On Tuesday I had the children paint what they thought their bones looked like after we looked at x-rays. So cute and I was super impressed at what showed up on paper. Just for kicks we added bows to all the girls. Because every little girl skeleton should have a pink polka dot bow :)
On Wednesday, we read Skeleton Hiccups by Margery Cuyler and then we made these super cute skeletons out of q-tips. So cute and your children did so well using their fingers for this activity. I love developing small motor skills with cute art!!
On Wednesday's we go to chapel and music. This week we were so good in chapel that we were chosen to get Millie. She gets to stay with us all week. I am so proud of my little class!!! Best at chapel!!!
I was able to sneak a few pictures at music before everyone caught on. I like to get "action" shots!!! We love Mrs. Betty and music!! I just wanted to share a little of what goes on in music!
I can't wait for another fantastic week!! I will see you on Monday!

Pumpkins
This week was a super busy week! I did not get to go as in depth as I usually do with pumpkins because of our field trip. However, we did cover a lot of ground. The pictures below are an activity I saw on Pinterest. I modified it to work in our class room. First, we painted orange circles on paper. Then, we let our paint dry. The next day we added the stem, eyes, mouth, and teeth as a "Listen and Do" activity. This is what your children created. I love to see each and every one!! Every child creates something different with the same materials, and I just love it!!
Paper tear pumpkins are one of my favorite pumpkin activities!! I love to see what each child will create. This is such an important small motor skill that your child is developing!!! The bonus to this skill developing activity, is the very cute art work!!!
I look forward to an amazing week....all about bones!!! See you tomorrow!

Super cute "Pumpkins on the Vine" are your child's stamped knuckles and thumb print. This is a piece of your child frozen in time. I love all things hand print and finger prints. You will see many more this year :-)
Every week I try and have a type of matching game in a center. This week we had to match felt pumpkins!!
We finally finished our color wheel!!! Thank you for all the items you sent with your child each week. They loved getting to tell about each item. This week we will talk about the color white and that will be the last color that we will cover. Then we will have a color party!! I can't wait!!!!
Last, but certainly not least, we painted candy corns. This time of year can be a super fun time. I love to bring that into my classroom. I am so proud of each and every one of my students. We are just in October, but everyone has made an enormous amount of progress!!!

Fire Safety Week
The Fire Truck made a stop by our school this week. Each child got a chance to sit in the driver seat and pretend to drive the fire truck.
I am looking forward to seeing each of you this week. I can't wait to talk all about pumpkins! We also have our first Field Trip on Tuesday to Children's Theater. We will leave the center at 10am. See you tomorrow!
Making our Dalmatians.
I saw this great little activity on Pinterest. This was a Listen and Do activity. Our shape fire trucks are just as cute at I thought they would be.
Tearing paper may seem to be just a fun activity. However, this helps to build the small muscle in your child's hand.
We talked about smoke detectors and where they are located. Then we made our own.
I really appreciate Mrs. Carol for helping with our Special Snack this week. Each child was given a red jello jigglier. Then we passed around a can of whip cream. We pretended to be fire fighters who where putting out fire.
Not only did we learn all about fire safety, but we also talked about the letter O. I really love writing activities. This may just be one of my favorite's. We had a large group activity where we talked all about what ingredients the class would use to make Octopus Stew. Then each child made their own. I talked to each child and asked how their stew was made. This was super cute. I can't wait for you to read your child's recipe.
